Fenris woke up feeling sore as he had expected and would have liked nothing more than to just lay on the bed for the day, but he knew if he didn't get moving it would take longer to get all his muscles back to normal.
He rolled off his bed and took a quick breakfast wondering what he could do. Flying was out of question, but what else there was that he could do, he had filled the fridge day before yesterday and there wasn't anything he really needed to get. He started walking back to his bed when he noticed the books stacked on the table next to his bed. Immediately a smile appeared on his face as he realised he could go to visit the library.
It didn't take him too long to back three of the four books, he had only started the fourth one, and step outside into the cloudy weather, remembering the weather schedule he knew that there would be some rain during the day, but it would stop before sundown. He decided to pick up something to eat as there still was some space in his saddlebags.
He took off at a slow, but steady trot towards the marketplace, heading straight for the applecart. After filling the free space of his saddlebags with apples he paid for his purchase and headed straight for the library.
He soon realised his mistake, he had picked up too many apples and the extra weight was really starting to wear on his already sore muscles. By the time he reached the library he had developed a clear limp on one of his forelags, but he wasn't going to give up. He opened the door to the library and took a few steps inside depositing his saddlebags to the floor with a sigh of relief. He took a quick look around, but couldn't see anyone, so he took another step forward and at that moment his foreleg decided to stop doing what he told it to, causing him to fall down on the floor with a loud thump.
"Well wasn't that bloody enjoyable..." He muttered as he lifted himself up from the floor.
"Hello? Anypony around?" He called to the library sitting on his haunches for now.

No matter what time Spike woke up, it always seemed too early. He managed to wake himself up as he went through his morning chores, though. Checking the daily list, it looked like the library was in need of a good sweeping today. With a muffled yawn, he grabbed the broom and began his first task of the day.
Peering down into the library from the balcony above, he could see that Twilight was no where to be seen. She must have been gone for a morning errand or something, the young dragon figured. Spike hadn't seen a lot of her lately, the unicorn seemed so preoccupied with all sorts of matters! While he was used to her being particularly busy at some points, Spike still couldn't shake the feeling of loneliness in her absence.
He started busying himself with his chores, when he heard the front door swing open, along with a call of an unfamiliar voice. Scampering down the stairs, Spike was greeted with the sight of the black pegasus awaiting him.
"Hey, how can I help ya? If you're looking for Twilight, I think she's out for now."

Fenris was surprised by the arrival of a dragon and it took him a moment to regain his wits.
"Oh, well I was kinda hoping to have a chat with her, but I also intended to return a few books and maybe pick up few more to read."
He started to rise up from his sitting position, but once he placed his weight on his front hooves a jolt of pain shot through it causing him to stumble to the floor again. He let out a deep sigh before resuming talking.
"Well isn't this fun..." He rolled over to his side and steadied himself against the wall as he slowly got back up this time staying upright. He turned to look at the dragon.
"Oh, I haven't introduced myself, I'm Fenris Firebrand, nice to meet you."

"Certainly! I'm sure she'll be back...well, sometime, at least," Spike replied with a grimace. He was curious of when Twilight would be back just as much as his visitor was.
Just as he mind started to wander back to the unicorn, the baby dragon noticed the difficulty that the pegasus was having getting back onto his hooves.
"Hey, are you going to be alright there pal?" Spike asked with a lighthearted tone. He felt like making some sort of jab at his troubles, but decided against it. Who know how well this stallion would take a joke?
"The name's Spike," he replied, pointing a claw to his chest. "What sort of books were you looking for anyways?"

Fenris let out a slightly weary grin to the baby dragon.
"Been better dude, been better..." He lifted his wing that covered his side to reveal several large bruises all along his side.
"I kinda got ran over yesterday, my own fault really, but luckily those are the worst of it." He folded his wing back against his side.
"Nice to meet you Spike, I was looking for one particular tome actually." He looked around the library spotting the back of the book right where he had left it last time he had visited.
"That bookshelf third row from the bottom, second one from the right, there should be a slip of paper tucked between the pages, there also was few other books about advanced flight theory around I would like to take another look at those as well." Fenris looked at Spike.
"I hope you don't mind me asking, but isn't it a bit unusual for a dragon to hang around in a library?"

The question was one that he had thought over much. Sure, some ponies were rather interested in seeing the baby dragon with Twilight, but he had gotten to get to know most of the ponies since their move to Ponyville, so all visitors knew him already.
"I suppose it is, now that you bring it up. Dragon's aren't exactly known for living in Ponyville, and I don't think a library is where my first place to stay would be either!" Spike said with a laugh. "I'm Twilight's assistant and she's the head librarian here, as you probably know." He seemed rather proud of that title, striking a quick pose. "Let me get those books for you then!"
Due to his constant reshelving, whether it be from Twilight's request or some trouble that happen to befall the place once again, Spike was intimately familiar with the layout of the library. It took him very little time to locate the books Fenris suggested, quickly bounding from shelf to shelf. "Aerial Loops and You", "Adjusting Your Wings to the Weather", and "The Official Wonderbolts Guiding to Flying Techniques, Third Edition" all laid in his grasp. Rainbow Dash had dropped by to look at a few of these before, so he'd assume they would more than qualify for "advanced flying".
When he reached the final tome, however, the tiny dragon could not recall its contents. It was a ordinary, brown book with a gold border. The volume was quite large, making him stagger a bit drawing it out, and the binding looked very worn. Spike returned with the four books and presented them to Fenris.
"There you go, pal! Hey, what exactly is one about anyways?" he asked, pointing towards the plain, brown book.

Fenris had hoofed open the book Spike had asked about and turned to look at him.
"It's a book on aeronautics, mostly theories and observations about pegasi and the airflow across their bodies during flight." He turned the page to a complex diagram about how the different airflows changed when pegasus shifted his or her wings.
"It's not that thrilling of a read, but it can help me with difficult maneuvers." He turned his attention away from the book and faced Spike.
"Do you have any favorite books?"
