Applebloom was actually less impressed than Scootaloo when she first laid her eyes on the costume. It seems Applebloom had remembered the tale of Nightmare Moon before she visited the Boutique, which had her on edge, and thought the giant apple costume would protect her from Nightmare Moon, or any other creepy creatures from the Everfree forest who would roam into town.
Unfortunately, the second Applebloom got a glimpse of Sweetie's costume, it put her in shock. "Ahhh! A monster from the Everfree forest turned Sweetie Belle into a vampire!" She yelled as she tried to back up quickly. Scootaloo was unlucky enough to be behind Applebloom, and was bumped back when Applebloom moved. Applebloom bumped into Scootaloo, as the two began tumbling down the stairs and landed on Horizon as he attempted to clean the syrup stain. "Oooow. Sorry 'bout that Scootaloo, y'alright?"

Horizon grumbled in a low murmur by himself as he cleaned the mess left behind by the fillies. Under two minutes in, and he was already demoted to cleaning duty! He hoped the rest of the night wouldn't continue at these rails. The three were upstairs, all, now, and from what Horizon could make out, they spoke of their costumes. He grinned. He hadn't ever celebrated Nightmare Night himself, but could see the charm of it. Scares and pranks and different kind of costumes.. and candy, all night long!
He reached the end of the stairs, and was about to take the first step up, when he heard a terrible ruckus and glanced up, only to see a bundle of fillies tumble down the stairs and crash onto him. The stallion stumbled and lost his footing, and he and the two fillies lay on the floor as a many-colored pile of pony and black feathers. He groaned slightly and got up. "Whatcha two be doin'? Ya ain't hurt, are ya?"
His first thought was concern for the two little ones; those were a rather lengthy set of stairs, after all. Somepony else would've been angry, but Horizon had received a rather.. liberal upbringing himself, and shenanigans like these were rather common, as he recalled.

Sweetie Belle didn't know exactly how to react to Applebloom. She was more confused then anything else. She KNEW she wasn't a horrible Everfree forest creature... why did Applebloom thi- Ohh. She looked in the mirror as the apple covered filly backed up and fell down the stairs. Sweetie didn't even notice it before but she had cherry juice everywhere on her face. With a small giggle she turned on the faucet and wiped her face clean. She was so messy she must have scared Applebloom; that was the only problem she could think of.
When finished she cleaning herself off, she quickly picked up the punctured juice packet with her mouth, tossed it in the air and kicked it with her back hoof into the bathroom's trash bin. The small filly then trotted over to the stairway only to find her friends and Horizon in a pile at the bottom of the stairs. She couldn't help but close her eyes and give a big smile when she saw them as she took her first step downstairs.....
Then tripped on her obscenely long cape and tumbled down the stairs as well. She didn't try and hem it since Rarity's pride and joy sewing machine was broken by yours truly. That and last time she tried to use a machine it ended rather horribly.
She managed to miraculously hit every step of the old, freshly dusted but cherry juice stained step on the way down; keeping her eyes shut before landing with a hard "Omph" on both Scootaloo and Apple Bloom. Slowly, she opened them and the large smile returned. Her fake fangs peering over the edges of her lip. "Hi Scootaloo. Hi Applebloom!"

Scootaloo smacked her head off of the stairs several times before finally reaching the bottom, her head pounding.
She got up, rubbing her head and trying to remember what happened. She remembered Horizon's question, trying to respond quickly so that she seemed fine. "Oh, uh, ya, I'm fine Horizon, that's nothing... I'm..." Scootaloo trailed off, rubbing her head, her thoughts jumbled by her raging headache.
Scootaloo looked down at Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle, an annoyed look on her face. "Ugh... Can we stick to getting hurt when we're trying to get our cutie marks?"
Scootaloo, continued rubbing her head, she was used to bumping her head, so she knew her headache would go away soon enough.

Applebloom stood up from her position in the giant crumple of ponies on the floor, and hopped off of Horizon, onto the floor, next to her two friends. "Scootaloo! Sweetie Belle! Are ya'll ready for our soiree?" Applebloom tapped her head a couple of times. "Ack. Ah think ah got a little bit 'a that cutie disease left in me. That's why ah wuz usin' the loop-de-hoop t'day!" Applebloom ducked under her costume and bumped it up with her flank, bucking it into Rarity's door, accidentally knocking it over. "M-Mr. Horizon! Ahm so sorry! Ah'll fix it pronto! Ah promise!" Applebloom ran over to the door and called for the others to join her.
"C'mon Crusaders! We're gonna try being the Cutie Mark Crusaders; Carpenters again! Last time we weren't knowin' whut we were carpentering! But this time, we know we're making the most fanciest door in Ponyville! B'sides the one from the barn at Sweet Apple Acres. Now let's be the most bestest carpenterer's ever!"

"It's 'kay, 'Bloom... you're.. ya be what now?" He asked when she let out the CMC catchphrase. A grim realization ran through him when he caught up with the three, and he shook his head. "Nononononono! I.. I mean, eh, heh, me's got it, girls. Why don'tcha go upstairs an'.. be Cutie Mark Crusaders.. eh.. umm, Cutie Mark Crusaders Candy tasters? Right, that's ought to be fun! Or storytellers! It's Nightmare Night! Candy an' horror tales, aye? All abound!"
The Pegasus smiled and nodded. "Aye, me's gonna fix that, while ye three go up an' have fun. Doin' somethin'.. safe.. an'.. not likely to cause permanent damage.." The stallion's words trailed off into a quiet murmur as he began to clean up the mess made by Sweetie Belle earlier, and the one caused by the two Crusaders tumbling down the stairs. He sighed. This would be a long, long night for him.
Horizon quickly galloped off to where he had brought a small locker where he kept a few personal objects he owned, picked the lock - he didn't use keys - and picked out a small tin flask, uncorked it, and drank it empty. He shook his head and but the container back and closed the lock. He took a few heavy breaths and calmed down. Now, he just needed to keep the three fillies off of trouble for a few more hours, and he'd be free and Rarity would be proud. His mind wandered to that case of diamonds she had.. but he quickly perished the thought and ran off to see what the Crusaders were up to.

Sweetie Belle's smile carved over her face when she heard the word carpenters from Applebloom. Sweetie leaped around the two fillies and darted up to Rarity's room before Applebloom even finished her little speech. She remembered when they fixed up Fluttershy's table when they stayed the night at her house. The pink filly especially liked the part where she got to hammer the nails into the wood, even if they didn't go in all the way straight. It was just fun to hit it!
However, she did hear Horizon say something about being a Candy Tasting Tester. Now /THAT/ sounded more her style. Rarity never let her even attempt to have a sugary treat but the idea of being able to actually get it for a cutie mark blew her freaking mind. Before going to Rarity's door, sweetie ran into her sisters room and quickly ate whatever candy she could find that he sister hide from her. Where else but the usual place Rarity put her valuable things, behind her mirror. Filled with sugar from a few Sun-Suckers and sour patch colts she ran to the door to start.
Lifting her nose under the door she slowly managed to lifted it up and work her head underneath the solid wooden board. Moving forward and applying all the weight her little body could muster, the energetic and sugar-high filly pushed the door against the wall. Now all she had to do was wait for the other two to help. Jumping up and down hyperactively.
