Nightmare Night had finally arrived, and Horizon had been living at the Boutique for nearly two days now. Unfortunately, he and Sweetie Belle never really got a chance to meet each other. Horizon would sometimes pass Sweetie in the kitchen, and exchange a weird glance, or Horizon would see Sweetie as she slept, and was advised not to wake her, considering she had school the following day. Since Sweetie had no school that day, or the night after Nightmare Night, she stayed home, and was allowed to invite two of her friends over.
Horizon was scheduled to watch the three fillies that night, since Rarity was invited to a Nightmare Night party at the Sweet Apple Acres, and decided to dress up, after not celebrating Nightmare Night for a while. She sported her nice glass slippers, and a golden tiara. Her suit had hundreds of gemstones, and was a nice white coat, matching her own coat.
She didn't technically have a plan for what her costume was, but she decided her costume was of 'Princess Rarity.' What she thinks she would look like if she was really royal. She looked back at Sweetie Belle and smiled. "Now Sweetie, Horizon should be here in a few minutes, he's just finishing up a delivery. I expect you to be on your best behavior tonight and tell Applebloom to be as well. Do have a good night, and don't forget your sister loves you." Rarity walked out and closed the door behind her and made her way towards the Acres.

Horizon was a bit late, having stopped to chug down a whiskey at a bar in Cloudsdale after completing his delivery and before returning to Ponyville. He rode the currents back to the small town in a hurry, and landed outside the Boutique a few minutes after Rarity had left. He stretched out his wings and neck before pressing the feathers tightly against his back and stepping inside the Boutique. This was the first time he'd be alone with Sweetie Belle, or even actually speak with her.
"Sweetie Belle?" He called out as he closed the door behind him. He was a bit frightened, and more than a little nervous, to have such a responsible and important a duty! He couldn't let Rarity down. She was outside enjoying her time with friends, and Horizon had the duty of keeping Sweetie and her friends out of trouble and inside tonight. He had his chance to prove Rarity he could be trusted, and that he wasn't after her jewels..
Gemstones. The thought caused a shiver to run across his spine. He had to stay away from that stash of treasures, lest he be captured by their allure. He had managed to stay his hooves for the past days without stealing anything.. well, he had stolen a necklace from one of the mares he had delivered a package this morning, but had returned it immediately and discreetly back to her before she noticed. Now, where was that little Unicorn filly?

Sweetie belle heard the unusually gruff voice of the stallion calling out to her, asking where the 'little unicorn' was. Shocked and a little scared at the sudden voice from downstairs, her eyes widened as she quickly shut the door to her room. With a small click locking it form the inside. Normally Sweetie Belle was a favorably social pony. If someone new met her she'd happily look up to them with a large smile and a clearly opened (and at times blank) mind. She was very gullible and easily tricked, but after that last incident at school... it left a little bit of an impression on the filly.
Unfortunately, Sweetie was more or less not wiling to meet him. In the first few times she hear him and Rarity speak from within the boutique, he used the word 'Hinny'. In what context, Sweetie didn't know, nor did she even know if Rarity heard the word or not. Either way, that word was her bane. It was the very thing causing her to be forced as a shut in for Nightmare Night. All that work on her costume would have gone down the drain if it wasn't for the little slumber party. 'No one wants to wear a costume /after/ Nightmare Night' was her mindset. Horizon was to blame.
But... she still had it with her. After hearing her punishment, she decided to pick up her costume from the tree house before heading back home. At least she'd be able to show her friends how it looked. Slowly cracking open the door from her room, she gathered everything she could and rushed into the bathroom to get ready, avoiding Horizon in the process.

Horizon heard Sweetie slam the door of her room shut, and with a sigh, headed towards the sound. He'd seen Sweetie around the Boutique earlier, but had a feeling that the filly did the best she could to avoid him. He wondered what he'd done wrong to cause the filly react to him in such a manner - as far as he knew, he hadn't even spoken to her yet, so there wasn't much he'd even had a chance to screw up. He didn't know anything about foals, how was he supposed to understand what Sweetie had against him?
He caught a glimpse of Sweetie rushing out of her room and disappearing into the bathroom, causing the Pegasus to give out another frustrated sigh. He wasn't really given a chance here, was he? Suddenly, though, the Pegasus got an idea; he turned away and headed back to the kitchen. "Oi, Sweetie!" He called, looking inside the cupboards to see what kind of materials he had at hoof. "Ya friends comin' 'round soon? Ye wanna me fixin' ye somethin' to eat?"
At least now he had a good, genuine reason to open up a discussion with the filly, and perhaps get her to talk to him, even if only a little. Sweetie was very important to Rarity, and Horizon wanted to do his best to get the absent-minded Unicorn to like him as well. Another small step on the road to becoming a decent pony!

Sweetie Belle was busy in the bathroom preparing her mane and coat for her costume. She wore a large smile while she got everything ready. Scootaloo and Applebloom were the pony ponies that /should/ know what it is, but other then them no pony as ever seen it yet. It was going to take a while to apply the temporary dye to her fur though. She hummed a quiet tune to herself as she started to style her mane; little by little putting her hairs into place and putting on a few metal bands around her forelegs.
The faint voice coming from the colt downstairs made Sweetie Belle's fur stand up for a brief second. She was so busy getting ready she had already nearly forgotten about the large pegasus downstairs. She heard something along the lines of fixing dinner for her friends and upon hearing it looked at herself in the mirror and pouted. Sweetie had forgotten all about dinner; she was too fixated on her costume. Her tiny stomach roared. tempting her to stop the preparation and go get some dinner. She trotted over to the door and stuck a small portion of her head between the frame. She didn't want to realy speak to the colt.... but she didn't want her friends (or herself) to not have food...
"Sure...That sounds like a good idea."
She said rather cautiously before returning back in the bathroom.

The Pegasus let a triumphant smirk to creep on his face as he scoured the kitchen for supplies. He wasn't a chef by any definition of the word, but had lived alone for long enough to know how to prepare a decent meal, at the very least. He stopped and wondered what Sweetie would like. Pancakes? Everypony liked pancakes, of course she would, too! Horizon began to work his magic, starting to feel a bit more confident about this whole fillysitting business. Just had to get Sweetie to like him, maybe figure out why she was so eager to avoid him at all costs. He didn't remember doing or saying anything wrong near her, at least.
Something about making dinner for a filly in a nice house while Rarity was away made Horizon feel.. he didn't know the word. Warm, and somehow gave him a sense of belonging he never had. "Now ev'ry gambler knows the secret to survivin' is knowin' what to throw away, an' knowin' what to keep", he started to hum quietly while working in the kitchen. He hadn't sang out of his free will in a long time, but that one song in particular was one of his favorites. He remembered hearing it for the first time with Wild Card in a shady bar somewhere in Manehattan, when an older gentlecolt picked up a guitar and started to sing.
"Sweetie!" He called upstairs. "Me's gotcha somethin' done! Come on down an' eat afore 'em's gettin' cold!" He was sure he'd win Sweetie over with his pancakes, and her friends as well! He didn't know much about foals and fillies, but he knew one thing.. well a few things, but one them was that no little filly could resist pancakes!

Mane slicked back, fake teeth diamond dog teeth in her mouth in her mouth, one of Rarity's special necklaces that Sweetie Belle 'Borrowed', the blood red eyes hungering with an immortal thirst for carnage, and a long black cape to instill fear into any pony who opposed her. The mare finally fixed everything up and took a good look in the mirror at herself for a moment before jumping back in slight shock. She almost forgot she looked /that/ scary 'Hehe, It's only me..' She lightly chucked to herself, her heart racing for a moment. Suddenly Sweetie Belle caught an evil grin in her reflection in the mirror, tossing the cap in front of her, wearing it like a shield as she returned to despicable glare. With a whoosh of her hoof and the black velvet sheet over the light switch, the bathroom turned to dark, tomb of musk and black. It was dead quiet, not a single noise dare be uttered except for the faint dripping of the sink or it might anger the monster formally known as Sweetie Belle. She was a cute filly no more. ...However, the quiet was broken by Sweetie Belle's own faint whimpering. She forgot she was afraid of the dark. With a small click she turned on a flashlight and held it under her head. Darkness edged along her face, hugging every curve it could showing an Erie glow around her face's bones. The hard lighting only intensified the glare as she looked into the mirror, seeing herself again. "HISSSSSSSSSSSS!" The flashlight clicked off. Followed by another slightly painful grunt from Sweetie. The power was turned back on. Sweetie smiled to herself. Her costume was perfect.....too perfect. It seemed that while she was making the signature vampire hissing noise, she accidentally bit her tongue with one of her fake sharpened teeth. A small struck of worry appeared on her face as she saw the juicy trickle gently slide down her lip; staining her fur as it went. IF she bit herself while she was a vampire did that mea--.... her mind was wondering again. Sweetie belle smiled again at the realization and decided to leave the blood on. It simply added to her costume. "Ohh my... I'm scary!" She exclaimed aloud, her voice slightly cracking at the end of the word 'scary'. She'd wait until Scootaloo or Applebloom would arrive before she would head down. She didn't want to talk to an adult pony she barely knew alone. Besides, Scootaloo and Applebloom were much better at talking with adults then she was. For now, Sweetie just sat there and stared at herself, she truly looked like a vampire.

Scootaloo had promised to meet Sweetie Belle at her house, the boutique, for a Nightmare Night sleepover. She normally wouldn't want to go there, because of how frilly and girly it was, but she'd happily go over for a sleep over.
Scootaloo had dressed herself up as Rainbow Dash, hoping that this would impress the older pony. Unfortunately for her, Rainbow Dash was out pranking again, which meant she hardly noticed the little fillies hard work.
She was scooting towards her destination, quickly getting closer and closer until she was there. She got off her scooter, put her helmet on her scooter's handles, and knocked at the door.

Applebloom was less than eager to arrive at the party with her other friends. She had suggested many scary and exciting costumes for her to wear, but since her big sister was out, it was up to Big Macintosh to dress her. He didn't want anything to vulgar, or too hard to make, since he wasn't the best at constructing things, and Rarity had enough work as it was. Applebloom sighed when she finally made it to the Boutique. Applebloom noticed a filly who looked exactly like Rainbow Dash, but the pony was much too small to be Rainbow.
Applebloom approached the pony only to notice it was Scootaloo in her costume. "Hey Scoot..." she let out a long sigh as she walked in front of Scootaloo with her costume. Well enough as Big Macintosh with agreeing with everything, he would only accept one costume, which was a giant red apple. Applebloom lowered her head and looked sad as she carried around a big stick with two apple drawing on each side. "Yer costume looks pretty cool. Wish mine could be good like yer's."

The stallion sighed when Sweetie didn't even care to answer him. "Bloody hayfire an' brimstone", he grumbled quietly by himself. It was really not fair that the Unicorn filly didn't even give him a chance! He frowned and looked at the pile of pancakes with disappointment. He didn't really care about Sweetie and her friends at all, but Sweetie was Rarity's little sister, and getting along with her would make the fashionista happy. Horizon looked around the kitchen for something to drink, even though he already knew that Rarity probably wouldn't have alcohols in the house. He rolled his eyes. How was he going to get through the night sober?
A knock on the door caught his attention and he walked to the door, whipping the air with his wings excitedly as he went. It had to be Sweetie's friends, come to save him from the awkward situation Rarity had put him in. Horizon opened the door and looked at.. Rainbow Dash, he suspected, and.. uh.. a giant apple? He gave Applebloom a slightly longer, confused look before he grinned at the two fillies. "Howdy! C'mon in, Sweetie's waitin' for ya. Ye wanna any pancakes, huh? Me name's Horizon Flare, by the way. Ya must be Scootaloo an' Applebloom, aye? Pleased to be makin' o' acquintance!" The Pegasus stepped aside to let the fillies inside.

Scootaloo giggled seeing Applebloom's costume, covering her mouth to try and stop herself from doing so. "N-no... y-your costume is... uh.... great? Any ways... you like my costume? Thanks! I spent a while making it so that i would impress Rainbow Dash... but she was busy..." Scootaloo turned her heard down.
She jerked her head up hearing the door open, expecting to see rarity or sweetie belle, but instead seeing a large black pegasus. She couldn't hold back her laughter at hearing the pegasus talk so funny. After she calmed down she smiled and greeted Horizon."Hey, yep, i'm Scootaloo, um... no... i already ate". Scootaloo walked in, and looked around the room before looking back at horizon. "Hey, so... where IS Sweetie Belle anyways?"

Applebloom wasn't too happy to see a pony she didn't recognize either, but she knew this was the pony Applejack told her about. According to Applejack, who was told by Rarity, this colt was Rarity's friend. Considering how picky Rarity is, it was alright to assume this pony wasn't too bad. "And mah name's Applebloom. Ah ain't too hungry neither, so ahm just gonna go find Sweetie Belle." Applebloom trotted past the bigger colt and looked at the table. "Hmm, maybe ah'll get just one."
Applebloom hopped up to a seat and pulled a pancake down on her plate. She slammed her hoof onto the plate flipping the pancake up and catching it in her mouth. "'anks Mis'er" Applebloom smiled with her pancake and made her way up the steps, swallowing it. Normally, this wouldn't be so bad, but as the pancake hung from her mouth, syrup dripped onto the floor of the Boutique. Once Applebloom had finished eating she opened the door to the bathroom, hoping Sweetie was in there.

"She be 'stairs, lass", Horizon answered to Scootaloo and closed the door after the two ponies had come in. "She been waitin' fer ya 'ready. Me's reckon she be fixin' up her costume", he continued and followed with Applebloom into the kitchen.. and was horrified by the fact that he was presented syrup stains all over the place! He knew Rarity hated stains, and dirtiness, and would go crazy if she knew there was sticky, sugary syrup all over her clean Boutique!
"Now hey, Applebloom, be mindful, aye? Ya ken Rarity be a bit exact 'bout her Boutique bein' tip top, savvy?" He reminded the filly as he left for a rag to clean up the stains. "An' tell Sweetie that me havin' pancakes made if she be hungry. Dunno if she heard me when me called!" He spoke after the fillies as they darted upstairs.
The Pegasus sighed. He wondered if he had bitten more than he could chew by agreeing to watch over the Cutie Mark Crusaders..

After a little bit of playing around with her new look, Sweetie Belle was a little tired. Quietly opening the door and sneaking downstairs without a sound, she went towards the kitchen to grab a quick drink from the fridge. Horizon was there, but just left the moment she made her way to the bottom of the stairs. From a distance, she watched the large stallion walk-across the living room and over to the front door where the faint sounds of hooves were knocking. Before he or any other pony could see, she darted into the kitchen.
"hmmm..."
She said to herself as she browsed the organized ice-box. Rarity must have gotten her hooves on it again. Before sighing and face-hoofing like she normally does whenever Rarity goes on an organizing spree she remembered she was under a time limit and focused.
"Ohhh, Ch*squeakk*erry!"
Sweetie Belle realized she made a loud noise with her voice, grabbed the cheery juice box with her mouth and ran upstairs. She didn't mean to make the noise. For some reason whenever she got excited or suddenly raised her voice pitch she had a tendency to squeak.Even worst, trotting all the way up to her room, her fangs punched two holes into the box. letting a path of red liquid lead up to her bathroom.
Closing the door behind her she looked down at the juice box, not knowing where the holes came from. Her mouth had the cherry juice all over the bottom part of her mouth as she messily drank from the box. Suddenly, the door opened revealing Applebloom in her giant apple costume. Sweetie Belle's face gleamed with a large smile.
"Hey Apple....big?"
Her eyes fixed on the... well.. apple...she lost her train of thought.

Scootaloo hurried up stairs to see sweetie belle after giving horizion a quick nod in recognition. Following behind her and giving her an odd look when she turned towards the washroom. "Uh, Applebloom? Why would she be in the-" Scootaloo cut herself off when Applebloom opened the door and Sweetie Belle was actually there. "Why are you... ugh, never mind, hey Sweetie!"
Scootaloo looked at Sweetie Belle's costume and grinned, noticing the trail of what looked like fake blood leading to her. "Wow! Your costume is really cool Sweetie Belle, but isn't the trail of blood a little bit over-kill?" Scootaloo pointed to the ground, and traced the trail from start to finish.
