Sweetie Belle sat downside Rarity in the empty hallway outside of Miss Cheerilee's classroom.School was over for ever filly and foal except for little Sweetie. She had been called to the offer after speaking a word that apparently Miss Cheerliee did not appreciate in the slightest; forcing a teacher-Parent (Or in this case, sister/teacher) to discuss the mater.
A cold, uncomfortable, silence between the two hung between them sisters as all they could do was simply wait for the clock to strike five. It seemed to take ages. Every tick took twice as long as the last. It was the only sound either of the mares could hear other then the faint breathing of the other. It truly was a terrible scene for Sweetie. She hating making her sister upset, but now she didn't quite understand what she did. She said a word to Silver Spoon and suddenly SHE was the one in trouble.
Tick Tick
"Achooo!"
Tick Tick
She sniffed afterwords. There was no response from her sister. Not even a single lapse in her breathing. She must have been very upset having to come down here, the icy glare she wore on her face was evidence of that. Last Sweetie Belle checked, she had been insanely busy with her orders. Now, she was being torn away from them because of something Sweetie Belle did. She looked up to Rarity, hopping for some kind of response of warmth. There was nothing. Sad and disheartened she look back at the wall in front of her.
Tick Tick Tick Tick
"I don't know what I did wrong...What does 'Hinny' Even mean?"

Cheerilee sighed. She had asked Sweetie Belle to bring her sister with her to the schoolhouse at five o'clock sharp. If she wasn't there...well, she'd be assigned a rather ludicrous amount of homework, which she knew any good filly or colt - Sweetie Belle in particular - would avoid at all costs. She had been grading quizzes at home and had finished up her work for the day - that only left meeting Sweetie Belle and Rarity just outside of her classroom. Turning down the empty hallway, she spotted the two females just outside of her classroom. The 34 year old mare gave a soft smile at both of them - even though Sweetie was in trouble, there was no reason they couldn't be friendly about it. She felt especially caring towards Sweetie, after all - she didn't have any parents to speak of. Cheerilee had hoped to somewhat fill the role - after all, she had never had a mother, either. She gave a little wistful sigh as she passed them, opening the door to her classroom. "Come on in."
She walked in ahead of them, moving the her desk, where she sat down. "Please! take a seat." She said, gesturing to the seats across her desk. She gave another smile to the both of them, using a hoof to gently push her mane out of her face. Sweetie didn't look so good - she looked positively terrified. She reached over to the filly, patting her on the head softly, giving her a smile. "It's okay, Sweetie. This is just a misunderstanding. You're not really in trouble." Still, she couldn't let something like this go without at least a discussion with Sweetie.
"Now...Miss Rarity is your name, yes? I am Miss Cheerilee, but you can drop the Miss, if you like! Some even call me Cherry." She nodded at the older unicorn. "Now. Do you know what Sweetie Belle here is in trouble for?" She asked, her voice calm and level, no sign of any worry or anger in her voice.

Rarity held her ice cold grin as she looked straight towards the door. As Cheerilee exited the door and began walking towards them, she put on a smile. Just because she was missing precious work time, and Sweetie was in trouble didn't mean they couldn't be professional about things. Rarity looked down towards Sweetie and got off the bench, as she stretched a little and nodded towards Cheerilee. Rarity dusted herself off and made sure Sweetie Belle was following behind the two.
The Unicorn mare made her way into the classroom and looked around as Cheerilee invited them to have a seat. She quickly took a seat, and watched Sweetie enter as well. She turned back to listen to what Cheerilee had to say before speaking. Rarity sighed and looked down towards her sister after Cheerilee asked her final question. "I'm quite sorry about whatever she did, Ms. Cheerilee. I can assure you, she never misbehaves at home. Not...without the others, but I'm sure we can settle things right away."
"While I have no idea what she did, I'm certain it was nothing too bad. She didn't get chalk in your mane did she? Did she perhaps try to help one of the under-fabulous foals?" Even thought Rarity was angry to have been taken from her work, she was still concerned, and cared for her sister. "Whatever it is, I can assure you I'll take full measures to deal with this problem and see to it that it does not happen again."

Sweetie Belle remained silent the entire time the adults had their friendly little talk. While they wore a pleasant air with their conversation, Sweetie Belle felt as if the end of the world was coming. She didn't understand why she was being punished at all! She had heard the words from that stallion that Rarity brought over to the house a few times. She didn't even know what he looked like! All he heard was his weird way of talking and a few new words.
She decided to stay quiet and let the adults have their say. Why was calling Silver Spoon a Hinny such a bad thing? She had a feeling it was something like the word 'stupid' or 'dumb'. It was just a word, she didn't know the exact meaning of it. Maybe she should have looked it up in the dictionary before she decided to use it. 'Dumb book! I should have done that in the first place! Now I'm in trouble because of it! It sounds so serious too. I'm might get grounded by Rarity!! Or-Or get detention for a whole month! Or-OR I WON"T GET MY CUTIEMARK BECAUSE I DID SOMETHING BAD!'
Slowly her sad eyes looked up towards her teacher. She didn't know what was going to happen. She was terrified.

Cheerilee had been in this situation before - she had even made a few misbehaving students cry before, and that certainly was not her goal here. She had something of a weak constitution - if she saw a foal crying, she couldn't stand to continue on with their punishment. She didn't even want to punish Sweetie - she just wanted to explain to her what the word she had said meant. To be fair, however, Silver Spoon had always been rather unkind to Sweetie and her two friends, as far as she had known.
She nodded at Rarity, giving her a gentle smile. "Oh, it's really nothing as serious as that, I don't think. You see, your little sister called another filly she didn't like a 'hinny'." She looked from Rarity to Sweetie Belle. "Sweetie, do you know what that word means? Who told you that word?" She asked the young filly. Such language at such a young age! It was rather unheard of, and Cheerilee seriously doubted she had heard it from one of her friends.

Rarity's eyes opened in shock at the mention of the word. "My stars! Sweetie Belle!" Rarity looked over towards Sweetie in shock. She didn't know what to think. She couldn't believe her younger sister even knew that word, let alone would call another pony that. She averted her cold glare and looked up with a smile at Cheerilee. "Well, I can assure you she didn't learn it at the Boutique, come to think of it, I have no idea where she learned it. I can assure you she will be punished as she should."
Rarity looked out the window and sighed. "I'm quite sorry Ms. Cheerilee, but we must be on our way now. I've a larger order to fill, and can assure you that the situation will be handled properly." Rarity stood from her seat and put one hoof behind Sweetie, taking her along. Rarity looked back at Cheerilee with a smile. "Do take care, Ms. Cheerilee." She looked back in front of her and moved Sweetie through the doorway, shutting the door.
Rarity looked down at Sweetie once the door was closed and sighed. "Sweetie Belle. You know what you did was wrong, correct?" Rarity accepted the sad look on her face as a yes. "I'm afraid you simply must be punished." Rarity didn't like punishing her sister, but something like this wouldn't stand. "I'm afraid I can't let you attend the upcoming Nightmare Night this year. You can have your friends over at the Boutique but...well, I suppose...I'm afraid you might have to visit one of them, I'll be going out that night, and I certainly can't have you staying home alone. Unless we find somepony to stay and fillysit you, you'll have to have a Nightmare Night alone.

"Well /NOW/ I know it's wrong..."
Sweetie Belle replied in an almost whinny tone of voice. Her head hung low, looking towards the ground. No more Nightmare Night, no more candy, all ruined for her because of one word. One stupid little word she didn't even know the meaning of. 'I knew I should have looked it up before saying it.' she thought to herself while looking up towards her big sister. She wore a look of sadness and confusion over what exactly was going on and why she was being punished.
"I'm sorry, Rarity... I should have known what the word was before I used it... It's just. Silver Spoon was calling Scootaloo a chicken and she's /not/ a chicken! We tried to get away from her and Diamond Tiara but they followed us...and... I just got a little angry..." She pouted returning her gaze to the floor as they walked. "I'll never use that word again.."

Rarity smiled, and looked down to her sister with compassion. Rarity knew all too well what it was like to be in Sweeties situation and had herself experienced if not the same, then a similar situation in the past. "I know Sweetie, and I know you'd never start an argument. It's just...being torn away from my work even for a moment, especially during Nightmare Night is terrible for the business. In fact, if this were the same situation, but around November, we might not have had enough bits for many Christmas presents."
Rarity felt even now she was being to harsh on her sister. She used to love going out for Nightmare Night and collecting candy, although she would never willingly hand it over to the statue, she'd always eat as many pieces as possible beforehand. As Rarity began to walk, she looked back to make sure Sweetie Belle was following her. "How about this, Sweetie? I'll find somepony to fillysit, and you can invite your two friends over for another sleepover. Perhaps you'll find your cutie mark that night?" Rarity figured this would lighten Sweetie's spirit, if only by a little.

Sweetie Belle let a small, upset sigh slip from her lips. As much fun as it was having a few friends and herself go out sleep over for a night, she just wished it wasn't during Nightmare Night. She wanted to be a zebra this year, but it looked like that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. She had the coat dye and everything already hiding away in the Cutie Mark Crusader Clubhouse with Applebloom and Scootaloo's costumes.....maybe the reason she /really/ wanted to have a good nightmare night was just the chance to have fun with them again...
"I suppose I'd be ok if you let me to do that..." she still looked away from her sister anticipating Nightmare Night now, looking forward to it more with every second. She wore a small grin when Sweetie thought back to the night they stayed at Fluttershy's and tried to imagine what other adventures they could do. Suddenly, a face of realization covered the fillies' face as she turned to her sister.
"What does hi--..... mean.. What does that word even mean?"

Rarity's eyes quickly shot open as she continued their walk. She thought that Sweetie Belle had completely forgotten about that word, or even why she was curious about it. It was easy for Sweetie Belle's mind to wander sometimes. Rarity's head sunk just a little as she began a nervous chuckle. "W-Well, Sweetie, it..."
She paused her sentence for a moment, trying to figure out the best way to explain this to a filly. "Well...imagine perhaps...a pony...who loves another...not...pony, but another, well..." Rarity couldn't word it well enough to explain it without having to have another talk about the birds and the parasprites. She certainly wasn't ready for that talk, or sexual education classes. There was not much Rarity could do at this point, so perhaps lying was the best choice. She could tell Sweetie Belle the truth when she was old enough to hear it.
"Well, actually Sweetie Belle, that word is what we call a horrifying creature from the Everfree forest!" She shook her hooves around so to add dramatic effect. "A creature with sharp teeth!" She poked at Sweetie Belles mouth. "And red eyes" She pointed at Sweetie Belle's eyes. "And worst yet, that creature hasn't EVER had a manicure! OOooooOoOoOooh!" She let out an ominous sound. Now, to an extent that was true, besides the red eyes part, but hopefully Sweetie would just believe her and be gone with the subject until much later in life.

Sweetie Belle stared big eyed at Rarity while she defined exactly what a "hinny" was to her. She was shocked, scared at what her mind ran with. A terrible, terrible creature invaded it, changing her imagination into something of pure horror. The twisted beast toyed with her thoughts, it was almost as if Rarity herself was manipulating her sister's thoughts to her own will. Her legs began to shake, Sweetie Belle was fairly easy to scare.
"Ohh my.... That sounds... horrible..."
In that instant a twisted and distorted image of Silver Spoon Entered her mind. The sharpened knives for teeth, the blood- thirsty red eyes, the unkempt mane and coat added with the unprofessional look. The image was everything Sweetie Belle was thought against and everything Rarity instilled in her. She'd never call any pony that again.
"Wow... So that's why Miss Cheerliee was so mad at me..."

Rarity looked down at her sister with a slight frown. "I don't know, Sweetie. I don't think Ms. Cheerilee was that angry with you. She seemed like she knew what she was doing, right? Beyond not being able to go out for Nightmare Night, I'm sure this whole thing will blow over if you just apologize to Silver Spoon the next time you see her. No need to stress this, it'll cause your hair to twirl." Rarity twirled a hoof in her hair and chuckled to herself as the two unicorns made their way back to the Boutique.
Everything was quiet in the Boutique for a while. Opal was asleep, and Rarity had to return to her rush. She struggled to quicken her pace, and with Twilight's new machine that she bought for Rarity, it was a breeze. She hurried through most of the suits and dresses as Sweetie idled in her room. Sweetie was obviously still upset with herself, and Rarity needed a way to be a little more sisterly, and a little less of a parent.
Rarity went to the kitchen and got two glasses of water. She smiled as she levitated the two and headed upstairs to her sisters room. She placed the tray down, and away from the closed door as she began to knock. "Sweetie Belle? It's your sister. Might I come in for a moment, please?"

Sweetie Belle was resting on her bed for a few minutes after returning from the school meeting. She relaxed, hiding from the world from under her bed covers. The warmth from the blankets were comforting for the mare, nuzzling her face into the fluffy pillow. Sweetie breathed a loud sigh into the pillow, increasing the warmth. The last thing she wanted was to miss out on nightmare night, but she tried telling herself it wasn't going to be as bad with her friends by her side. Despite it all her positive thinking, she couldn't help but shed a shed a small tear which was quickly absorbed in the pillow.
-Knock Knock-
A muffled voice covered by her pillow greeted the knock.
"Come in.."

Rarity heard a squeak muffled by a pillow as she magic'd Sweetie Belle's door open and slowly made her way to her bed. Rarity sighed and sat next to Sweetie, letting one hoof caress her sisters back as Sweetie was face down into her pillow. Rarity continued to rub her sisters back as she spoke. "Now, Sweetie...I know I may seem hard on you sometimes, but what I'm doing is for the best. I don't want you to think I'm angry, or upset with you, because I'm not. Ms. Cheerilee isn't either. You know you're still my favorite little filly. And don't you ever forget that."
Rarity smiled, hoping she could cheer her sister up. She moved off of the bed and moved to her sisters pillow. She quickly kissed her sister on the cheek and left her sister alone. Rarity made her way downstairs and saw that dinner time was rolling around, so she decided to make Sweetie Belle her favorite meal. Once it was finished, she served it on the table, and called out to her sister. "Sweetie Belle? Dinner is ready! Come downstairs, wont you?"
