Sidestep had been settling down for the last few days. She had found somewhere to stay, bought food and a couple essentials, and overall made herself comfortable.
Comfortable was boring. Something had to be done. Ponyville was a brand new place, and she felt she had to see all of it. The first goal was information, and she knew just where to go for that. Not traditionally her favorite place in the world, of course, but you never know. The library here was apparently run by a well known unicorn of great magical abilities. She'd probably keep some interesting stuff laying around.
The door to Twilight Sparkle's abode glowed slightly with unicorn magic, opening and closing by telekinesis to let the gray mare enter. The door didn't make a single sound, an old habit of hers - Side was used to not being wanted in places she actually had to open a door for. She looked around, still without a sound, curious as to whether this semi-famed pupil of Celestia would be there.

Twilight galloped across the bridge to fight with the gaint slime monster. Suddenly, the bridge gave way and she found herself falling infinately. Several things passed by her during the fall. A house, a guitar, a train, a crow. After awhile, she gently landed in an expanse of lush, green plains. She was about to frolic about, when a gust of snow turned the entire field into a snowy tundra...
Twilight woke up shivering. she had been dreaming. She glanced out the window to find she had slept in. She rolled out of bed and walked in to the main room to see a unicorn. Before she was seen, she retreated to brush her mane quickly. She wasn't looking great, but she was at least presentable. Wiping the sleep out of her eyes, she reentered the main room and greeted the mare, saying "Good afternoon! Is there anything I can help you with?"

Sidesteps eyes scanned the library as she walked to its center, noting the titles of books she was close enough to see properly. There did indeed seem to be quite a lot about magic in here. She was on her way over to a shelf to take a better look, when all of a sudden, a voice greeted her out of nowhere. She jumped, spun... and of course, met nopony who would be considered a threat. Quite the opposite. Twilight Sparkle, if she'd been given the correct descriptions.
"Ah, haha." Her own voice rose from a nervous to confident tone, in something that was probably meant to be a laugh. "Twilight, right? Just the pony I'm looking for." With a glow of her horn, a book levitated over to her - one she'd seen before Twilight walked in, Modern Spellcasting. "You're known for magic around here, right? Top spellcaster of Ponyville, student of Celestia, all that jazz?" The book opened, and the pages flicked through themselves sporadically, Side glancing at them when they stopped. Without even getting half way through, it snapped shut, and the gray mare snapped her full attention to Twilight. "Have any books on the subject you'd suggest?"

Twilight looked at the mare before her. "Yes, I am the Princess's student, and yes, I am pretty good at magic." She said, being somewhat modest. "As for a book..." Just then, her horn gave a faint glow, and the air felt static, almost as if lightning were about to strike. It then faded away, as did her horns glow. It was a nifty spell she had learned to size up another ponies magical prowess.
Based on the information she found, a book glowed and was swept before the pony in her library. It was titled 'The history of spellcasting'. "It would be better to learn about how magic works before you go casting it all over the place. Knowing the mechanics behind a spell will give you not just a better understanding of it, but will also help you cast it both efficiently and when the time is right." She said, smiling sincerely. It was always fun to help others learn. "And by the way, I never got your name." She added.
