This very top post can be edited with all information deemed 'important' at any time. Please use it as a reference guide for random need to know tidbits of everything canon in MLP: Friendship is Mayhem. Check often for updates.
Firstly are bits. The show is so influent in its payment rates. One day a pie is two bits and other days its 3 whole bits for a single apple. Instead of endlessly trying to reconcile the reasons on how the currency works like that, we'll make our own. I propose bits are like dollar coins but a little less valuable.
One bit is .9 of a dollar and might be 0.7 Euro's If you have 100 bits it would be around 90 dollars and like 70 Euro's. Half would be 50 bits= 45 dollars and 35 Euro's
One bit is 11.5 paco's and 1.26 british pounds. If you have 100 bits it would be around 1150 paco's and 126 british pounds. Half would be 50 bits= 575 paco's and 63 british pounds So on and so forth.....

*laughs at 69*
i think we could make this so much simpler, let us ignore the way bits are used in the show. we could do something as simple as saying i bit is 1... well, money. i see no reason for us to over complicate this, considering that there is only one currency and type of money.

I agree. According to the game, as I've been told, oh so many times. We play as ponies aren't a tv show. But real life. The only currency here in Equestria is 'bits'.
What's a dollar? What's a euro?
The only currency used in the game is bits~

I want it to be easy, but at the same time I want it to make sense. Say one member says 100 bits can buy you a cottage. And a week later the same pony in a different thread gets a carrot for 5 bits. So 20 carrots is the same as a house? We could just do things that way, but i dont like it.
Another thing is say some RP'er uses euro's and another uses paco's (Mexi money). Well if the paco user considers 1 paco = 1 bit and the european user considers 1 euro = 1 bit, heres what happens: The euro user RP's giving a pony 10 bits for doing him a job. Well, to the paco user, thats not very much money at all. The paco user might RP getting mad for such a small pay, and the euro user will RP their pony telling them they're greedy. The euro user is actually being generous, but sinse the paco user considers 1 bit to be 1 paco, he feels cheated. All of this ignorance can lead to confusion in RP. I want to avoid that.

But we all use bits.
Scenario's can be given hundreds of times. The case stands that, on this site, everypony will use the currency of bits.

But what are bits? Thats what im trying to answer. You can RP your character to know what bits are and how much is enough for things, but do you, the writer, know? You can guess and guess, but you'll never truly know unless we have some sort of a system. I like the converter im making. It gives you a firm grip on currency in Equestria. Its more just 'in case you ever want to say a specific amount' kind of thing. We could do without it, but its nice to have.
If you guys feel we should completely abandon this idea or drastically change it, im listening. This thread is for philosophy on all things Equestrian.

As you said, though, even canon uses bits inconsistently. I don't see too much of a deal. That said though, it's not a bad idea to do this, but it's pretty much overcomplicating things. We all come from different countries, and don't know what everything's worth in each. We might as well leave it as-is.
