Fenris shook his head at Sunset's words.
"I'm not going to just leave you hanging, what kind of friend it would make me if I just left. I'll stick around as moral support, I know I had some after my crash and it helped." He was smiling.
"I even got a get well card from my unit while I was staying at the hospital, signed by the lot of them, including the officers, I visited after getting released to deliver my resignation and meet with the friends I had there, had to get special permission to do that last part though." He had fallen in step with Sunset.
He stared at the sky for a while before returning his focus back to the road ahead.

The two headed down the street, and Sunset listened to Fenris, nodding at points, but she didn't say anything for a while. "If you insist, then", she finally agreed with him joining her. She wasn't all that comfortable knowing somepony was there just to for 'moral support.' She felt like she had failed, betrayed her calling and was nothing more but dead weight. The rational side in her knew that was wrong, and everypony needed a friend sometimes, but her nature was against it.
"Your unit? Sounds like you have been in the same situation as I have.. where did you serve?" She inquired curiously. Fenris frightened her a bit; she saw her own future in him.. would she end up serving tables in a café? A failure to her family and her house, and most important of all, to her Princess, the divine figure she adored and worshiped from afar?
A shiver went through her, but otherwise she remained adamant and stalwart. At least she woudn't let anypony see her despair; it would not have been fitting for a member of the Royal Guard, especially not somepony of her rank.

"I was Sargeant Major of 13th Recon Group "The Nightwings", was too much of a wild child to be able to rise to a higher rank, but I didn't care, I liked what I was doing as I was not that fond of fighting anyway and my superiors respected that." Fenris smiled at the memories.
"I was specialist scout, night time and adverse weather conditions, rain, snow you name it I was up there. I've actually improved that particular skill, partly thanks to the exoskeleton which allows more strain on my wings than before, though mostly it's just years of more experience and training." He shrugged as he flapped his wings taking to the air, but staying close to the ground matching Sunset's speed almost perfectly.
"I've been travelling a lot after recovering from the crash, developed a new way to fight as I can use my wings rather more freely when fighting than other pegasi can, maybe, if you feel like it, we can have a sparring match one day?" He lazily flipped around his central axis as he kept flying, shifting to the other side of Sunset as he did so.

Sunset kept on a good pace, or as good as the dress she wore allowed her. A stupidity called 'fashion' that she had to obey to at least some degree to keep up the good image of the Guard while on her free time. "I know that unit. By name, at least", she told him as he continued on his tale. He'd been a good addition to the Guard, she thought. Ponies like Fenris weren't perhaps the ideal type she'd preferred under her command, but he'd be a valuable resource nevertheless. Joy favored more disciplined and orderly soldiers to the Pegasus' 'wild child' attitude herself.
"Perhaps we could. Tomorrow, what say you?" She answered his challenge rather eagerly. It'd be good to don the armor once more, and to do something worthwhile. "Although I must warn you that I am not an easy prey, Fenris", she added. The hospital was now within view, and the mare observed it from the distant with a hesitant nervousness.

"I can't do it tomorrow full-shift on weather patrol. Hm... let me think..." Fenris dropped back to the ground, his brow slightly furrowed in concentration as he tried to recall his calender.
"Day after tomorrow should work though, if you're free, I'll have day off from the patrol and morning shift at the cafe, but after that I'm free for the rest of the day."
He smiled at Sunset's statement.
"I didn't think you would be, though I reckon I have few tricks you haven't seen." He had turned to face Sunset as he spoke and noticed the change in her. He turned to look forward to see that the hospital had come to the view.
"Well, let's see if we can get you an appoitnemnt then."

"I shall meet you on the Farrier Fields, then?" She asked him as they entered through the doors of the hospital and into the white corridors. "I would relish a chance to keep myself sharp and to test myself against you." She came to a halt, looking at the receptionist pony and the two other ponies waiting in line for their turn. "I never thought I'd be in this situation. No use but to keep a stiff upper lip and carry on, as they say, I presume."
She waited for her turn, glanced at Fenris once more, and went to talk with the nurse at the reception. They spoke for a while, after which the mare returned to Fenris and nodded. "I can see a doctor tomorrow", she told him. Her insides felt like goo, but she kept her exterior a statue - that was how she coped. If nopony could see her meekness, then it wouldn't be as bad. Speaking to Fenris of her troubles had already been more than she had done in a long time.
"I thank you for your concern, Fenris", she said in somewhat artificial tone.

Fenris waited patiently for Sunset to finish her business at the hospital and once finished they headed out.
"It was no trouble Sunset, so I guess I'll see you day after tomorrow, I hope everything goes well for you." He stepped a few steps away from Sunset and spread his wings.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I really need to get some flying done, it's something of a daily routine for me, I'm sure you know what I mean." He flapped his wings creating a gust of wind around himself.
"Farewell and take care." Fenris strenghtened his wingbeats rising straight into the sky.
