Horizon watched as the drive-lights scared away the shadows of the streets, causing them to flee in fear of those bright, shimmering orbs until they were but narrow, dancing skeletons that tore themselves apart in their desperate fury to get away. Heavy rain drummed the roof of the cadillac, and raindrops beat the narrow cobblestone streets with a relentless fury, as if intending to one day crush the stonework and reach the soil underneath.
He wore a dark trenchcoat over his fitted suit; a stolen pocket watch hang from one of the pockets of his vest, and on his head rested a fedora, slightly tilted to one side. He had the look of a well-doing man, despite the fact that all he owned were bought with violence, deceit and thievery – he was no different from the shadows that so eagerly ran from the headlights. He offered a glance towards his partner in crime, Fenris, and pulled out a cigarette, flicked out a lighter, and breathed in the smoke. ”Gonna be pullin' over here”, he said soon and parked by the sidewalk.
The crook turned towards Fenris. ”Got this, pal? We ain't goin' fer a bloody slaughter here. Be all smooth an' straight, aye? We gotta be low-profile on this. Easier to get the waif with us if she ain't screamin' like a bloody banshee.” He whipped out his butterfly knife and hid in his pocket; inside his jacket lay a revolver in a holster, hidden from all but the most observant of eyes. He opened the door and stepped out of the car into the rain.
Rain. It drove away all but the most stubborn of filth, emptied the streets of trash.. Horizon chuckled at the thought by himself and put out the cigarette, looking at the imposing building before them; the abode of a certain lady of extreme fortune, whose life would be worth a trove of treasure. He wondered if Fenris had the guts for this kind of job; Horizon knew he was a rogue, and much nothing could get him to second-guess his motives.. but Fenris, he wasn't sure of. ”Ya ready?” He asked him once more.
Only the street lamps gave a faint illumination to the two characters standing by the sidewalk. Horizon clenched his hand into a fist. The rain was cold and lashed like a whip against bare skin; he stepped forth and opened the door, stepping into the large building. There was an elevator at the end of the corridor, and stairs going up. ”It be a penthouse where she be livin'. Dunno if she be 'lone. Vigilant, savvy?”

Fenris had been laying back on his seat, eyes closed listening to the sound of rain hitting the roof, his black cowboy hat covering his eyes. He responded to his partner with a simple nods. He pulled a revolver from it's holster using the barrel to lift the edge of his hat off his face. He flipped the chambers of the gun open making sure that it was fully loaded before snapping it back shut.
As the car came to a halt he reholstered the gun, fixed the position of his hat before stepping out of the car into the beating rain. He was wearing a dark blue trenchcoat over his black suit. He stood next to Horizon silently observing the building in front of them. There was a smile on his lips as usual, but the gaze of his eyes was laced with steel. He gave another nod to Horizon before they headed into the building.
He had his doubts about this job, it wasn't their usual fare, but the rewards offered were too great to ignore. He followed Horizon to the elevator speaking up as he hit the call button on the elevator.
"Ever vigilant, you know me." Grabbing the hat from his own head and shaking the water off of it before replacing it.
They waited in silence for the elevator to descend, stepping in once the doors opened. The doors of the elevator slid shut and Fenris hit the button for the penthouse floor. He grabbed a small bottle from his pocket taking a swig and then offering the bottle for Horizon.
"Once again we go to make our fortune..." His smile fading from his face.
"Bloody well hope it works." He observed the numbers changing as they rose up the building, the small flickering numbers counting up towards their target.

Luckily for the two, there had been quite a soiree at that very same penthouse that night. The night was in celebration of the achievements of the rich man who owned the place. It seems his company had done something important, not that it mattered to any residents of the place, or for that matter, any of the guests. The guests seemed to like the view of the penthouse, and the free refreshments, not that they couldn't afford it, considering only the richest of the rich had been invited.
The only one left in the penthouse was the father of their target, and the woman herself. She seemed to be a young woman with long purple hair. Normally, her hair color would, and did upset most people who stopped by, but she got just about anything she wanted from her father, and liked it that way.
The woman, who would always only be known as 'Rarity' waved as her father began making his way home. She waved from her penthouse window, so he obviously could not see her. This didn't matter to her as she wiped her long white dress and sat down on a nearby couch pouring herself a final glass of wine.
Rarity sipped the wine occasionally, placing it back down, and slipping the thin part of the glass between her pale middle and index finger before bringing it to her lipstick covered mouth, then back down once more. She stood up and moved to the bedroom of the house, kicking off her purple heels and admiring herself in the mirror for a while, glad the guests were finally out of her hair, which needed to be brushed one hundred times, as soon as possible.

The blackguard took the alcohol from Fenris, took a heavy chug, and offered it back. The elevator stopped, and Horizon pulled the iron turnstile to the side before stepping out into the short corridor, brightly lit and decorated, leading to the door beyond which their prey would await. "'Tis gonna work a'ight. Don'tcha fret", he told his partner and reached for his Colt, checked the chamber and tucked it away, all in one, fluid and swift move of his hand. He looked over his shoulder at Fenris.
He nodded towards the door and closed the distance, trying the handle carefully. It was open, and gesturing Fenris to follow, the villain slid into the lady's chambers unseen and unheard, more like a whisper in the night than a man. He flicked out his knife and with a move of his wrist and nothing more than a soft click, he had it ready in his hand for bloody murder. He had a dangerous look at his person; he wasn't sure if Fenris knew, but in reality, Horizon had never taken a life himself, nor allowed one to be taken when he could prevent it. He had gone this far with his wits, guile and intimidation, with a side of non-lethal violence, and wouldn't break his record now; the dagger was there simply as a scare.
He made his way through the entrance hall, and peeked around the corner into what should be the living room; there was a wall of windows that gave a perfect view to the city and the street down. Nothing here. Flare moved on ahead, checking a room by room, his gait silent.

Fenris stepped into the room after Horizon closing and locking the door quietly and then leaning against the wall next to the door standing guard in case the lady managed to avoid Horizon and made a run for the door.
He relaxed himself blending into the background darkness as if he was part of it, though he was relaxed his muscles were ready for immediate action if need be, it often allowed him to get a drop on others as they didn't expect one to be able to move so easily from such a position. And while his sight was trained into the chambers he was also listening for the sounds beyound the door.
This was the make or break of their plan if they managed to get the lady without making too much of a ruckus, they would be able to slip out of town in the cover of the night and it might take more than a day for the police to get on their trail.

Unaware of the men inside her penthouse, Rarity continued brushing. She stood in front of her large mirror, which flashed a small reflection in the mirror to an object in the darkness. Rarity made haste and turned around to the darkened room, the only light shine was from the streetlight outside. Even if there was a noise to be made, the thumping of the raindrops on the gray pavement and the windows was almost too loud for Rarity to hear her own thoughts.
She gripped the brush tight in her one hand, and held part of her hair straight in another. Once her hair was taken care of, she made her way to her purple shoes, which had been tossed aside as of now. She placed them neatly near the door, still oblivious to the men in her penthouse.

Flare made his way through the apartment, until only one room was left; the bedroom. He sneaked towards the door, pressed against the wall, and peered inside. He could hear Rarity moving inside, and now he saw her as well; a beautiful, fair young woman, with a curiously coloured, well-tended hair. She was just as pretty as the word on the streets said she was, and her father would surely pay a long penny to get her back alive and unharmed.
Horizon turned the knife in his hand and was about to enter, when the woman quickly turned around. He withdrew, and heard her steaps near - she hadn't notice him, though, as there was no panic or fright in her stride. He waited until she stopped, just by the door, before stepping into the room and behind her. The light from the street lamps that came from behind the windows outlined the man's form and cast heavy shadows on his features - the glint of the blade's edge was the only clearly visible shape on his person.
With a quick and deft move, he wrapped his free hand around Rarity, covering her mouth, while the knife pressed near her neck. The man leaned over her shoulder, to her ear, and whispered; "you make a sound, an' ye be six feet under.. savvy?" He let the woman loose, backed away a few steps, but kept the knife in his hand, while the other now pointed a revolver at her. "We be goin' out, bonnie. Get dressed fer that, an' sharpish. No tricks nor words. All hush and' quiet, now."

Rarity was tempted to scream but didn't make a noise when she saw the revolver pointed towards her. She put a hand over her mouth as tears began to drip down her face, spreading her mascara. Rarity slowly took one step after another, since it was all she could manage and moved back into her room. She slipped on some shoes and a nice, fur coat, and stepped back out into the room with the two men.
Rarity couldn't asses the situation at hand, and even though Horizon demanded she didn't speak, she couldn't hold herself back from asking just what was going on. "W..." Rarity looked towards both the men. "W-What...Whatever do you want...from me?" She could hardly make a noise as she began to cry more, but followed their orders, if only to save her life. "J-Just...p-please don't hurt me...!"

Horizon followed Rarity out, and nodded at Fenris who was on the watch. He picked a folded letter from the pocket of his jacket and put it neatly on the table, and nodded at his partner one more time. "Nothin' from ya, but lots o' green from ye father. Don'tcha worry, doll; act all nice an' proper like ya been taught, an' we be gettin' along nicely, ken? Now, follow me friend here, would ya kindly?" He spoke in a calm, almost friendly tone now. Even though this was a vile kidnapping, there was no reason to be rude about it.
Horizon followed out after Rarity and Fenris, and into the elevator, closing the turnstile when they were all in. The cart soon began its long descent down, during which Horizon tucked away his knife and replaced it with a cigarette, putting the end between his teeth and lighting it up. He was rather happy with how the job had gone down; no need for excessive violence and no screaming, shrieking girls to carry kicking into their car.
"Get her into the car, won'tcha?" He said to Fenris, avoiding to use names. "Keep sharpish. Me be drivin'", he continued and headed first out of the elevator to start the car to get them out of here before anyone would notice something was amiss. It was a late night, but a streak of bad luck could fall down on anyone's head without a warning, whenever, wherever.

Fenris nodded to Horizon as his partner headed outside to start the car while he waited with the lady. He was fairly relaxed despite situation, but the adrenalin in his blood made sure he was ready to act on slightest cue. He picked up an umbrella from a stand nearby while keeping his eye on their "guest" and one of his hands free.
"Ain't proper to make lady walk in the rain." He was standing right beside Rarity and once he heard the roar of the engine he opened the door opening the umbrella before gesturing Rarity to move.
"Don't go and try to run, it would be a shame to have you leave in such a manner." Though his voice was frinedly it still held an obvious threat.
He held the umbrella above her protecting her from the rain and casting a shadow across himself and her masking them in the darkness. He opened the rear door and helped her in following her and closing the door behind him.
"I reckon it's time to put some miles between us and this place, let's hit the road buddy."

He sat in the driver's seat, opened the window, breathed out smoke and started the car after Fenris and their hostage were in, steering on the driveway and starting towards the base of operations the two con-mans had set up. Horizon adjusted the rear-view mirror to get a better look at the young woman - she was gorgeous, a real head-turner. He smirked and focused on the road. This was a first-time on this kind of job for Horizon, and he had a nagging feeling inside his chest that this wasn't his slice of cake. Kidnapping was a whole different business than scams, heists and blackmail.
"Don'tcha be 'fraid, miss", he said, turning his head a bit as he drove. "We ain't gonna be hurtin' ye. We be real gentlemen, an' only be askin' ye stay docile, ken? Be doin' that, an' this'll be all over afore ye even fathom", he told her, nodding reassuringly and flicked the burnt-out cigarette out of the window. The car headed towards the western part of the town, crossing darkened alleys and narrow streets, until finally they reached their destination, an old warehouse in the industrial area. He drove the cadillac through a small alley and parked it behind the building.
Horizon stepped out of the car with the keys, and swiftly began disguising the car with old blankets as Fenris exited the vehicle with Rarity. "Get the lass inside. Ain't no proper conduct keepin' a lady waitin' outside an' cold, aye?" He threw the keys to Fenris, as he'd need them to get inside the warehouse through the back door.

Rarity was obviously scared for her life, but was still spoiled beyond belief and thought just because she was rich didn't mean she deserved this. Rarity dug through the contents of her coat and pulled out two elbow length purple gloves. She put one on, after another as it was apparent that these two men certainly didn't take care of their car, and the dirt, dust and cigarette buts all over the floor. "Gentlemen?! You call kidnapping a lady being gentlemen?! If you two really were gentlemen, you'd get well paying jobs and not have to resort to robbery."
Rarity was obviously getting snippy with the two, since they were both stronger than her, she wasn't escaping any time soon. Although, now that she knew she was going to be safe until her father payed them the money, she didn't fear for her life as much as she would have without knowing that. Rarity pulled up her gloves as she opened the door once they had arrived. "Pardon me, the one who didn't drive. It's still raining. Where's the umbrella, hmm?"

Fenris shook his head at Rarity's outburst.
"Desperate times lady, desperate times..." He snatched the keys Horizon threw him from mid-air and stepped outside into the rain as he heard Rarity's question.
"Right beside you..." He replied closing the door and feeling the rain hitting his hat once again.
He walked to the back door of the warehouse unlocking the door and stepping into the small room beyond. He gave the room a look before stepping back outside opening the car door and gesturing for Rarity to get out of the car, hoping that she would comply as easily as she had until this point.

Horizon chuckled at Rarity's sudden, spirited attitude as he threw the last few blankets over the car and followed her and Fenris inside, closing the door behind him. The warehouse was dimly lit, and mostly empty, if not for two beds and other miscellaneous furniture; tables, a few lamps and chairs. There was a separate office room that had a carpet and a bed as well, and a lockable door - that would most likely serve as Rarity's quarters. Horizon had prepared what modest accommodations he could for the lady to keep any possibility of constant whining to a minimum.
"Me be showin' the miss her quarters. Can ye be fixin' somethin' edible meanwhile, hm?" He asked Fenris and opened the door to the separate room. "This way, if ya will", he asked Rarity, stepping aside and holding the door open for her. The room itself was just as dimly lit, but at least there were clean sheets and some minor comforts, such as a couch and a table with some books to read, and a radio. "Ain't whatcha used to, but ya won't be needin' to use this fer long", he said with a slight tone of mockery in his voice. He held no respect for the rich and the mighty, having spent his own life on the streets with little more than scraps.
"As me told ya afore, keep ya wits about ye, an' don't be tryin' nothin' silly, an' we be gettin' along just swell, savvy?" He entered the room and switched on the desk lamp to bring some illumination and drive away the shadows. Rain was still pounding outside, and it drummed constantly against the panel roof of the warehouse.

Fenris sighed from relief once they managed to make their way inside their hideout. He looked into the fridge taking out some bread and assorted toppings placing them on the table. He took a bottle of juice for himself before sitting down on one of the beds reaching under it to grab a guitar.
He started playing a relaxing tune, that changed every half a minute or so, stopping every once in a while to take a sip of juice. He liked to play when he was getting stressed, it helped to calm him down and it usually worked to calm his partner down as well. He was also hoping it would calm down their "guest" as well, though he wasn't sure if it would, no harm in trying though.
